We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Integrated Vehicle Systems Technician to join our team and contribute to the development of Advanced Driver Assist Systems (ADAS) and Automated Driving Systems (ADS). Job Overview The Integrated Vehicle Systems (IVS) Department at Toyota Research & Development is looking for a skilled Technician to maintain equipment and vehicles used for ADAS and ADS development. The primary responsibility of this role is to ensure the functionality and safety of IVS test vehicles and facilities, collect and analyze data on public roads and test tracks, and maintain a safe working environment. The successful candidate will report to the Manager of the Automated Technician Group in IVS and support the APAD department's objective to define performance requirements and evaluate ADAS against those requirements. Key Responsibilities • Maintain the functionality and safety of IVS test vehicles and facilities • Retrofit and maintain the functionality of ADS/ADAS sensors, data acquisition systems, and other equipment • Plan and execute public road ADAS/ADS evaluations • Plan and execute closed course ADAS/ADS evaluations • Collect and analyze data on public roads and test tracks • Ensure a safe working environment for IVS • Provide vehicle troubleshooting support to stakeholders • Document and communicate data issues accurately, including technical writing and reporting ability • Update vehicle systems software and confirm functionality • Interpret electrical systems drawings, specifications, manuals, wire diagrams, and standards Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: • An Associate degree or higher in a Technical Field OR 3+ years of equivalent experience in performance tuning/functional evaluations of vehicle functions • Current TMNA R&D Team Member experience is an asset • Experience utilizing data acquisition equipment such as Panel 4 or similar • Experience providing vehicle troubleshooting support to stakeholders • Experience documenting/communicating data issues accurately, including technical writing and reporting ability • Experience updating vehicle systems software and confirming functionality • Experience interpreting electrical systems drawings, specifications, manuals, wire diagrams, and standards • OBD (On Board Diagnostic) and CAN (Controller Area Network) tool use, experience, and understanding to troubleshoot system issues • Skill in the use of hand and shop tools to build test fixtures, disassemble and assemble vehicles • Willingness to travel up to 50% Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: • ADS/ADAS hands-on work experience (2 yr or more) • Ability to use ABD & train members in Guided Soft Target (GST) and SR/CBAR Robot test systems • Vehicle dynamics evaluation experience • ASE certification • Toyota Driving Certifications • Experience writing software scripts to automate evaluations Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to possess the following skills and competencies: • Strong technical skills and knowledge of vehicle systems • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills • Ability to work independently and as part of a team • Effective communication and interpersonal skills • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Toyota Research & Development, we are committed to the growth and development of our team members.
