As a key member of the Information Investigation team, you will be responsible for driving business growth through data analysis, quantitative research, and data-driven storytelling. About the Role The Supervisor, Information Investigation will be responsible for DMG's data, reporting, and quantitative research, serving as a trusted data analytics partner to cross-functional teams. You will provide actionable insights to inform planning and decision-making across various business areas, including music marketing, discovery, and consumption channels. To succeed in this role, you will need to develop a deep understanding of consumer behavior and translate business questions into analytical and technical frameworks. Key Responsibilities Drive practical approaches to addressing complex business problems through data creation, analysis, and statistical modeling. Develop new features integrating data across internal and external sources. Contribute to strategic initiatives and new business opportunities by developing analytical models and frameworks to understand potential, performance drivers, and the impact of environmental factors. Support data-informed business strategies by applying data mining, quantitative analysis, and data visualization to surface and elevate key themes, answering business questions across various business areas. Extract and develop data for analysis. Source, organize, clean, and manipulate complex, large-scale data from multiple disparate sources using tools like PySpark and advanced SQL. Apply supervised or unsupervised learning techniques, such as linear and logistic regression, decision trees, or k-means clustering, to derive, validate, and evaluate conclusions from the data. Serve as a partner to cross-functional stakeholders to identify opportunities and understand performance, diving into data to drive meaningful and actionable insights. Contribute to organizational needs through ongoing reporting and analysis to inform business, product, marketing, and sales decisions. Lead content execution and audience analysis for product releases. Develop and track key metrics to measure success. Perform statistical analysis, such as KPI deep dives, behavioral clustering, and customer journey analysis. Develop analytical pipelines for automated, scalable, repeatable, and integrated analysis using modern big data frameworks in data environments like Databricks, Snowflake, and Google Big Query. Collaborate with Engineering and Product teams to execute on data projects. Contribute to solution discovery, design, build, and QA process. Collaborate on data models, database schema/table, ETL/ELT data pipelines, and validation boundaries. Lead and coach a team member, establishing boundaries to maximize influence within the organization. Essential Qualifications 3 years of data analysis experience. 3 years of management experience. Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field, including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields. Experience developing statistical models and analyses in an industry setting for business use cases. Applied knowledge of supervised and unsupervised learning techniques. Skill manipulating large, transaction-level datasets and interpreting data trends from various disparate data sources. Strong hands-on experience developing complex analytical solutions using scripting tools (Python/R). Proficiency in advanced SQL, big data, and numerical computing languages (PySpark). Experience with data mining in distributed systems (Spark/Databricks). Proficient in data analysis and visualization tools (Tableau/Looker). Experience developing analytical software that scales analyses. Experience working with media performance data. Experience working with data in media outlets. Strong experience documenting data requirements, rules, and assumptions. Experience communicating analytical concepts to diverse audiences. Passion for building clear, concise, and meaningful metrics. Proven track record of using data to deliver business value and presenting data-driven insights to business audiences. Experience influencing and collaborating with stakeholders across the organization. Strong time management skills with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment across multiple priorities. Strong attention to detail without losing sight of broader objectives. History of working independently, showing creativity, and delivering results. Distinct passion for music and the music industry. Strong experience with music streaming services (Spotify, Apple, Amazon Music, YouTube), social media platforms (TikTok, FB/Instagram), and emerging technologies (digital assistants/voice). Preferred Qualifications Experience leading data-driven projects across a wide cross-functional landscape. Experience building, managing, and motivating teams in strategic support functions. Graduate degree in a quantitative field, including Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, Engineering, or other related fields.
