Job Highlights Location: Remote, work from anywhere Compensation: A competitive salary for this permanent, part-time position Start Date: Immediate openings available, ready to start right away Position: Nights & Weekends Blogger, working Monday-Thursday, 4-9pm, and Sunday 12-6pm Company: Workwarp, in partnership with Vox Media Key Responsibilities As a Nights & Weekends Blogger for The Cut, you will be responsible for: Writing news stories across all areas of the site, including Power, Culture, Self, and Style, with a focus on after-hours and weekend breaking news and celebrity stories Identifying the most important stories and writing them up with the Cut's voice and style, aiming to contribute 2-4 stories per shift Working with and reporting to the News Editor, who oversees all news posts on the blog, although most of your shifts will be working independently after-hours Pulling photos from the wires and promoting posts on the Cut's social media channels to engage readers and drive traffic Closely following politics, culture trends, and celebrity news to stay on top of breaking news and current trends Actively monitoring social media to keep on top of breaking news and current trends, and to identify opportunities for stories and engagement Essential and Preferred Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should have: At least 2 years of writing experience, with a portfolio that showcases your ability to write engaging, high-quality content The ability to work independently, with minimal supervision, and to manage your time effectively to meet deadlines Strong news judgment, with a keen sense of what makes a compelling story and a thorough understanding of SEO principles A good sense of humor and a knack for crafting stories that capture the essence of the Cut's voice and style The ability to write quickly and cleanly, often without an editor, and to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities While we have outlined the essential qualifications for this role, we're open to considering candidates who may not meet every single point.
