Experienced Non-Clinical Education Specialist – Healthcare Staff Development and Training Expert

Job Overview The Non-Clinical Education Specialist will play a vital role in designing, developing, and delivering educational programs and staff development services to our associates, providers, volunteers, patients, and community members. This position will serve as a key resource and expert in adult learning, instructional design, and content development, with a focus on promoting excellence in healthcare practice and patient care. The successful candidate will have a strong background in healthcare education, staff development, and training, with excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills. Key Responsibilities Design, develop, and deliver educational programs and staff development services to meet the needs of our associates, providers, volunteers, patients, and community members Coordinate and facilitate new associate and manager orientation programs, as well as other education programs and events Serve as the primary system administrator, instructional designer, content developer, and trainer for the associate Life Talent Center (LTC) Provide guidance and staff development coordination throughout the organization to meet the staff development needs of all departments Coordinate, provide, and teach medical library services, evidence-based researching, clinical resources/databases, and audio/visual resources Participate in quality improvement events, projects, committees, and teams as assigned by the Sr. Exec of Human Resources Administer, coordinate, facilitate, or assist with multiple team functions, activities, and resources, including EOC Management Plans, MSDS Online, Incident Command, Emergency Preparedness, Send Word Now, Hazmat Training, and more Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as education, healthcare administration, or a related discipline At least three years of experience working in a healthcare environment, with a focus on education, staff development, and training Experience preparing and making presentations to large groups, with excellent communication and interpersonal skills Demonstrated understanding of the principles of adult learning, instructional design, and content development Knowledge of JC, OSHA, state regulations, and nursing standards in relation to education and competency requirements Basic understanding of quality improvement concepts and the ability to assist with the application of quality improvement tools Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Master's degree in a relevant field, such as education, healthcare administration, or a related discipline Experience working in a hospital or healthcare setting, with a focus on staff development and education Certification in instructional design, adult learning, or a related field Experience with learning management systems, instructional design software, and other educational technologies Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following skills and competencies: Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate adult learners Strong instructional design and content development skills, with the ability to create engaging and effective educational programs Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a focus on collaboration and teamwork Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously Ability to think critically and solve problems, with a focus on quality improvement and patient safety Career Growth and Development At Watertown Regional Medical Center, we are committed to supporting the growth and development of our staff.
