Role Overview We are currently seeking a qualified and experienced Part-Time Temporary Math Tutor to join our team at the Learning Center. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to provide free academic support to students enrolled at Tri-County Technical College, specifically in the subject of math. As a math tutor, you will play a vital role in helping students achieve their academic goals and succeed in their chosen fields. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one, small group, and online tutoring support to students in math, covering a range of topics and levels Develop and implement effective tutoring strategies to meet the diverse needs of students Create handouts, learning modules, and other educational materials to support student learning Work collaboratively with faculty and staff to identify areas where students need additional support and develop targeted interventions Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance tutoring skills and stay up-to-date with best practices in math education Maintain accurate records of tutoring sessions, including student progress and outcomes Communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff to ensure a supportive and inclusive learning environment Essential Qualifications A strong foundation in math, with a degree in mathematics, education, or a related field Experience in tutoring or teaching math, preferably at the college level Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities and needs Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines Familiarity with online tutoring platforms and technology-enhanced instruction Preferred Qualifications Certification in math tutoring or a related field, such as the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA) certification Experience working with students from diverse backgrounds, including those with disabilities and English language learners Knowledge of best practices in math education, including innovative and evidence-based instructional strategies Ability to speak multiple languages, with a focus on languages commonly spoken in the tri-county region Experience with learning management systems and educational software, such as Canvas or Blackboard Skills and Competencies Strong knowledge of math concepts and principles, with the ability to explain complex ideas in a clear and concise manner Excellent problem-solving and critical thinking skills, with the ability to analyze student needs and develop effective solutions Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds Ability to work in a team environment and collaborate with others to achieve common goals Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate records and meet deadlines Ability to adapt to changing priorities and needs, with a focus on providing high-quality support to students Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits As a Part-Time Temporary Math Tutor at Tri-County Technical College, you will have the opportunity to develop your skills and knowledge in math education, while also contributing to the success of our students.
