Job Overview As a Registered Nurse at Saint Bonaventure University, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of tasks and responsibilities within the scope of New York State RN-licensing law. Your primary focus will be on providing RN-level nursing care to students and university employees, including triaging, evaluation, health teaching, health counseling, and provision of supportive and restorative care. You will also be involved in collecting, organizing, and verifying incoming undergraduate and graduate student immunization records as required by NYS law. Key Responsibilities: Provide RN-level nursing care to students and university employees in accordance with professional licensing guidelines and NYS laws Collect initial information submitted electronically via the EMR or over the phone to triage or determine whether or not a patient is to come to Health Services Room patients (when applicable) and obtain vital signs Conduct laboratory/testing procedures on-site or process laboratory order paperwork Timely and accurately document patient visit and/or laboratory information appropriately in the EMR Administer allergy injections, start IV-drips, and other treatments based on Medical Services Provider direction Provide information or health education and/or informational materials to patients as directed by the medical provider Process any information or communications that are received through the Health Portal, including immunization records, health history forms, consent and release of information requests Answer phones, schedule student appointments, process student email inquiries or redirect them where appropriate to other staff Assist in making referrals to on or off-campus healthcare providers and process consent and release of information requests Essential Qualifications: To be considered for this exciting opportunity, you must possess the following essential qualifications: RN-licensed and currently registered to practice in the State of New York Maintain professional licensure requirements without being reminded, including licensure validation and continuing education requirements Two (2) years' work experience as a RN in Health or Occupational setting Excellent administrative, communication, and organizational skills Proficient using computer programs such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Proficiency using electronic medical record systems Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. on an ongoing basis without sponsorship Preferred Qualifications: While not required, the following preferred qualifications will be considered an asset: Certification in a relevant specialty area, such as occupational health or ambulatory care Experience working in a university or college setting Knowledge of HIPAA laws and confidentiality guidelines Experience with electronic medical record systems, particularly those used in university health services Skills and Competencies: To succeed in this role, you must possess the following skills and competencies: Ability to handle highly confidential material and maintain integrity and confidentiality of data Sound judgment and decision-making skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities and deadlines Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to maintain accurate and detailed records Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits: At Saint Bonaventure University, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our employees.
