Key Responsibilities Provide expert medical coding guidance and support to ensure accurate and compliant coding practices. Collaborate with IT developers and programmers to implement coding solutions and improve operational efficiency. Review and analyze medical records to ensure accurate coding and compliance with regulations. Develop and maintain formal business process documentation to support coding and insurance operations. Communicate effectively with executive management, line management, project management, and team members to ensure seamless collaboration. Stay up-to-date with industry developments and changes to coding regulations and guidelines. Participate in policy remediation and other special projects as needed. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need to meet the following essential qualifications: A minimum of 5 years of experience in healthcare insurance, medical review, program integrity, or appeals. A minimum of 5 years of experience working with IT developers/programmers in a payor environment. A minimum of 5 years of experience in Medical Coding in a payer environment. Strong knowledge of ICD/CPT/HCPCS translation and coding methodologies. Extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and medical terminology. Superb written and oral communications skills, with strong proficiency in English. Strong knowledge of formal business process documentation. A current nursing license in South Carolina (RN or LPN). A medical coding certification (CPC or CCS). Demonstrated ICD-10 proficiency through exam. Preferred Qualifications In addition to the essential qualifications, we are looking for candidates with the following preferred skills and experience: Experience in policy remediation. Claims processing systems experience. Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and medical coding software (Optum Encoder or similar).
