Experienced Senior Engineering Manager – American Express Engineering Team Leader for Software Development and Quality Assurance

Role Overview As a Senior Engineering Manager at American Express, you will be responsible for leading a team of engineers, defining requirements for new features, and constructing product guides. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including designers, tech leads, and engineers, to recommend changes to APIs and system designs. Your expertise in software development, quality assurance, and testing will be essential in driving the success of our engineering team. Key Responsibilities Lead a team of engineers in the development, testing, and deployment of software products Identify and resolve defects in the development cycle, ensuring high-quality software products Define requirements for new features and construct product guides Collaborate with cross-functional teams to recommend changes to APIs and system designs Develop and implement process and technology improvement projects Monitor and track the resolution of defects, working closely with engineers to prevent, report, and resolve issues Apply software development methodologies, continuous integration and delivery, and automated testing to ensure seamless execution Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Systems, or a related STEM field At least 4 years of progressive experience in building development plans, executing quality assurance, and testing for engineering teams Minimum 2 years of experience in each of the following areas: Accounts Receivable (AR) in the financial business space Software project management Integrated agile application development environment Applying software development methodologies, continuous integration and delivery, and automated testing Writing tests and resolving defects Designing and running functional, automated, system, and performance tests API testing, COBOL, Control-M, DB2, IBM Optim with LUA scripting, JCL, Mainframe CI/CD, MQ, Test Data Management (TDM), Syncsort, Stored Procedures, SQL, Test Automation, and VSAM Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are preferred: Experience working in a remote or distributed team environment Familiarity with American Express's technology stack and systems Knowledge of industry trends and emerging technologies in software development and quality assurance Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you will need to possess: Strong technical skills in software development, quality assurance, and testing Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Effective communication and collaboration skills Ability to lead and motivate a team of engineers Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality software products Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At American Express, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
