As a SPED teacher, you will be responsible for evaluating students' academic issues, developing and implementing personalized learning plans, and providing instruction to improve upon deficit areas. You will work closely with students, parents, and other professionals to ensure coordinated treatment efforts and provide direct and consult services to students in accordance with their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). Key Responsibilities Conduct professional assessments of each student's weaknesses and strengths as they relate to school subjects and/or educational diagnosis Develop and implement personalized learning plans to address students' academic issues and help them achieve their goals Provide direct and consult services to students in accordance with their IEPs, including updating IEPs and attending IEP meetings Maintain accurate records of student progress, including online web-based accounts and quarterly progress reports Communicate effectively with parents, staff, and other professionals involved in the student's education to ensure coordinated treatment efforts Submit billing in a timely manner and perform other duties as specified by the supervisor Essential Qualifications Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited school in a related field, such as special education or a related field Missouri certification in special education Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in special education and/or general education Experience in providing educational services to children and/or adolescents with educational disabilities or learning difficulties Ability to use computer and web-based programs consistently, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Spedtrack Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in special education or a related field Experience working with students with diverse learning needs, including autism, ADHD, and other disabilities Knowledge of evidence-based instructional strategies and interventions Experience with progress monitoring and data-driven instruction Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and other professionals Skills and Competencies Assessment and Instruction: Ability to conduct comprehensive assessments and develop personalized learning plans to address students' academic issues Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, parents, and other professionals Organization and Time Management: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and maintain accurate records Technical Skills: Proficiency in using computer and web-based programs, including Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, and Spedtrack Adaptability and Flexibility: Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities, with a flexible and positive attitude Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Miriam Learning Center, we are committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our staff.
