As a Technology Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing top-notch technical support and customer service to our faculty, staff, and students, ensuring the smooth operation of our educational facilities. Key Responsibilities As a Technology Assistant, your primary focus will be on providing technical support and assistance to our college community. Your key responsibilities will include: Troubleshooting and repairing computer hardware, laptops, tablets, printers, and other technologies to ensure optimal functionality. Assisting and advising faculty and staff with technical questions and problems over the phone, in person, or remotely as part of our Enterprise Service Desk. Providing technical support and guidance to students with technical questions and problems over the phone, in person, or remotely as part of our Student Help Desk. Offering customer support and technical assistance for various college events, which may include working with outside organizations utilizing our facilities. Assisting with printing posters, banners, and CD/DVD duplications to support college activities and events. Performing preventative maintenance in network closets throughout the college to ensure the reliability and efficiency of our technology infrastructure. Assisting with technology repairs, setups, hardware and software installations, and configurations in labs, classrooms, and offices to support our educational programs. Utilizing Microsoft 365 tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams, to enhance productivity and collaboration. Using KACE ticketing software to track work and project requests, ensuring timely and effective resolution of technical issues. Performing other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of the Information Technology department. Essential Qualifications and Skills To be successful in this role, you will need to possess the following essential qualifications and skills: A high school diploma or equivalent. Good communication and people skills, with the ability to interact effectively with faculty, staff, and students from diverse backgrounds. Patient and composed, with the ability to handle stressful situations and provide calm, professional support. Good time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously. A strong work ethic and a commitment to delivering high-quality service and support. A technology background and/or a keen interest in learning new technology skills, with the ability to quickly adapt to new systems and software. The ability to lift at least 25 pounds, with the capacity to move equipment and supplies as needed. A positive, cooperative, and supportive attitude, with a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration. Preferred Qualifications and Skills While not required, the following preferred qualifications and skills will be considered an asset: Previous experience in a technical support or customer service role, preferably in an educational environment. Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools, KACE ticketing software, and other technology systems used in the college. Knowledge of computer hardware, software, and networking principles, with the ability to apply this knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
