About the Role As a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on your own schedule while making a positive impact on students' lives. Our platform offers you the opportunity to choose from a variety of assignments, including day-to-day and long-term positions, across different schools and grade levels. You'll be supported every step of the way by our dedicated team, including a designated Scoot consultant who will help you develop your skills and navigate your subbing journey. Key Responsibilities Provide high-quality instruction and support to students in the absence of their regular teacher Adapt to different teaching environments and curricula, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn Develop and implement engaging lesson plans, ensuring continuity of instruction and minimizing disruptions to students' learning Build positive relationships with students, teachers, and school staff, promoting a collaborative and inclusive classroom environment Participate in 1:1 check-ins with your Scoot consultant to discuss school feedback, address concerns, and identify opportunities for growth Engage in ongoing professional development, including free online training on topics such as trauma-informed teaching and classroom management Essential Qualifications Associate or Bachelor's degree, or 60+ college credits Three professional references, including one from a previous direct supervisor NJ Substitute Credential Background check and TB risk assessment (we'll cover the cost of this) Full COVID-19 vaccination A passion for education and putting students first An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be Preferred Qualifications Previous experience as a Substitute Teacher or in a related educational role Specialized training or certifications in areas such as Special Education, English as a Second Language, or STEM education Experience working with diverse student populations, including those with varying learning needs and abilities Skills and Competencies To succeed as a Substitute Teacher with Scoot Education, you'll need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to adapt to changing circumstances and priorities Strong organizational and time management skills Flexibility and willingness to learn Empathy and understanding when working with students, teachers, and school staff Ability to maintain a safe and inclusive learning environment Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Scoot Education, we're committed to supporting your professional growth and development.
