Why You'll Love This Role This position is crucial in cultivating a data-driven organization through various Data Governance Capabilities, including Data Literacy, Data Stewardship, Data Quality, Metadata Management, Master Data Management, and Privacy and Compliance. As a key member of our team, you'll be responsible for leading the creation, maintenance, and rollout of American Airlines' Data Governance Capabilities, ensuring that our data is a valuable asset that drives business success. Key Responsibilities Lead the development and implementation of Data Governance Capabilities, ensuring workflows, standards, processes, and recommendations are in place and effective. Collaborate across the Enterprise to enable Data Governance and Data Quality standards, working closely with our Data Governance Executive Committee. Define and monitor core Metrics and KPIs for each Capability, ensuring we're on track to meet our data governance goals. Research, review, suggest, and rollout new software and tools to enhance our Data Governance Capabilities. Work with the Data Governance Platform team(s) to automate Capability processes, improving efficiency and effectiveness. Act as the Product Owner for Capability Products, ensuring they meet business needs and are well-marketed within the organization. Serve as the Capability's spokesperson and chief marketer, promoting the value of Data Governance across the company. Essential Qualifications To succeed in this role, you'll need: A minimum of 3 years of experience in Data Analytics and/or Data Governance. Experience implementing one or more Data Governance Capabilities in an organization. A proven track record of developing and tracking metrics to determine the adoption and success of data governance capabilities. Experience working with Business Intelligence products, Data Lakes, and Data Warehouses. Familiarity with sensitive data (PII, SPII, PHI) and relevant regulatory recommendations (GDPR, CCPA, etc.). Experience with Data Quality & Observability tools. A Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Preferred Qualifications While not essential, the following qualifications will give you a competitive edge: Change management experience, particularly in identifying downstream data impacts for regulatory requirements and reporting. Experience automating data governance processes/workflows using market-leading data governance products. Detailed experience delivering data governance artifacts, including data dictionaries, metadata, lineage, data movement controls, and data element level data quality controls. Experience as a Data Steward, performing as a data expert, auditing, and reviewing data access. Familiarity with Agile and DevOps frameworks. Experience in the airline, aviation, travel, and/or hospitality industry. Skills and Competencies To excel in this role, you'll need: Working knowledge of SQL. Strong understanding of Data and Analytical principles. Data Governance certifications (CDMP, DGSP) are a plus. The ability to bridge the communication gap by translating technical governance principles to the Business. Flexibility in an evolving operating model, with the ability to pivot on areas of focus.
