Our HSI STEM IT Knowledge & Context Grant is a pioneering program aimed at increasing the number of Hispanic and low-income students attaining degrees in STEM fields, including IT/Cybersecurity. As a tutor for this program, you will play a vital role in helping us achieve our goals and make a positive impact on the community. **Job Summary** We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced tutor to provide instructional support to students in CIS courses, including programming, networking, cybersecurity, and more. As a tutor, you will work closely with students to develop their comprehension of CIS concepts, improve their study skills, and enhance their academic success. You will also be responsible for establishing effective relationships with diverse student and employee populations, reporting any problems or concerns, and completing CRLA level 1 certification within one year of employment. **Key Responsibilities** * Provide instructional tutoring and assistance to students in CIS courses, including programming, networking, cybersecurity, and more * Help students develop effective study skills, including time management, self-confidence, and academic independence * Establish effective relationships with diverse student and employee populations * Report any problems or concerns with equipment or materials to the HSI STEM Grant team * Complete CRLA level 1 certification within one year of employment * Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge **Essential Qualifications** * High School Diploma or GED * Proven classroom excellence (grade A or B) or industry experience in the subject(s) to be tutored * Written Faculty recommendation for the subject(s) to be tutored OR vetting of content knowledge * Evidence of success in CIS (IT/Cybersecurity) academics * Ability to work effectively and inclusively with a diverse population of learners **Preferred Qualifications** * Tutoring experience * Bi-lingual fluency (writing and speaking) in English and Spanish * Knowledge and ability to teach subject matter to CIS students, particularly in Linux, Networking, Ethical Hacking, and Python, Assembly, C, C++, and/or Java programming **Skills and Competencies** * Patience, compassion, and creativity * Flexibility in instruction and the ability to approach learning from different perspectives * Ability to model and mentor student success in academic courses, including CIS * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work independently and as part of a team **Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits** As a tutor for our HSI STEM IT Knowledge & Context Grant, you will have the opportunity to: * Develop your skills and knowledge in CIS and related fields * Enhance your teaching and mentoring skills * Work with a diverse population of learners and develop your cultural competence * Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge * Contribute to a dynamic and innovative program that is making a positive impact on the community **Work Environment and Company Culture** As a remote tutor, you will have the flexibility to work from home and enjoy a comfortable and productive work environment.
