Field Service Engineer

Responsibilities Traveling to customer sites to perform a variety of services including verification, preventative maintenance, repair, and installation, on a wide range of Instron’s products Working from home, out of the Greater Chicago, IL area Providing with a company vehicle, appropriate tools/equipment, including a laptop computer, cell phone, and MI-FI device Having regional responsibility for customers located within Wisconsin and Illinois Occasional travel to other locations in the US may be required, as much as up to about 40% overnight travel Skills Two or four-year technical degree from an accredited university Knowledge of electro-mechanical systems Ability to read, comprehend, and interpret basic technical information involving mechanics and electronics associated with materials testing systems Ability to interpret blueprints and schematics Understanding of electrical, mechanical and electronic systems Familiarity with PCs including operating systems and Windows applications High level of autonomy Superior organizational skills Time management skills Customer service skills Prior field service experience Automation systems experience Experience performing preventative or corrective maintenance on servo hydraulic systems Experience with materials testing Experience delivering hands on and classroom training on topics technical in nature Benefits Health, dental, life and LTD insurance 401k (with match) 100% tuition reimbursement program Company Overview A leading worldwide supplier of instruments, software and services for the testing of materials and structures It is a sub-organization of Illinois Tool Works.
