Note on Compensation This position is currently offering anywhere between 5-20% equity in the company with no cash compensation or salary until seed funding round is complete. Position Summary Ecopreneur is seeking a Founding Chief Technology Officer to co-build the future of community-powered education. This is a ground-floor opportunity to architect, shape, and scale a platform that helps students discover purpose through meaningful service, exploration, and real-world engagement. You will work directly with the co-founders to design and evolve our technical foundation, product roadmap, and long-term systems strategy. This role blends hands-on building with strategic leadership. You will help translate vision into infrastructure, ideas into usable tools, and values into systems that serve schools, students, and communities with care. This is an ideal role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building with intention, and wants meaningful ownership in what they create. About Ecopreneur Ecopreneur is an EdTech platform helping schools modernize how students engage with service learning, career exploration, and community partnerships. Our mission is to help young people find purpose, belonging, and direction through real-world engagement that benefits both students and their communities. We work with middle and high schools to streamline volunteer tracking, partnerships, and student engagement while supporting administrators with compliance, reporting, and insights. Our long-term vision is to become the connective tissue between education, community organizations, and future pathways — without losing the human element. Our values guide everything we build: • Sustainability & Respect • Innovation & Foresight • Empowerment & Community • Balance & Wellbeing • People & Cultural Identity • Integrity & Transparency Objectives As CTO, you will be responsible for shaping the technical foundation and long-term scalability of Ecopreneur. Core objectives include: • Architect and evolve the platform’s technical infrastructure to support growth, security, and reliability. • Translate product vision into scalable technical systems and workflows. • Lead technical decision-making with long-term sustainability in mind. • Collaborate closely with the COO to align product, mission, and execution. • Oversee development of features supporting student engagement, admin workflows, and data insights. • Ensure responsible data handling, privacy alignment (FERPA-conscious design), and ethical system architecture. • Establish engineering best practices, documentation, and development workflows. • Evaluate and implement tools, frameworks, and integrations as the platform evolves. • Support experimentation, iteration, and user feedback loops. • Prepare the platform for future scale, partnerships, and funding readiness. Competencies We’re not looking for perfection. We’re looking for alignment, curiosity, and capability. Core competencies include: • Systems thinking and technical architecture • Product-minded engineering • Full-stack or strong backend experience (stack flexible) • Strategic planning and technical roadmapping • Clear communication with non-technical stakeholders • Comfort with ambiguity and early-stage problem solving • Ethical and privacy-conscious development • Leadership through collaboration, not hierarchy • Ability to balance speed with sustainability • Continuous learning and adaptability Education and Experience We care more about how you think and build than where you studied. Ideal experience includes: • Experience building or leading technical development for a startup or early-stage product. • Comfort owning architecture decisions end-to-end. • Experience working on SaaS platforms, data-driven products, or education-related tools is a plus. • Familiarity with user-centered design and iterative development. • Experience collaborating with non-technical founders or cross-functional teams. • A track record of shipping meaningful products, not just prototypes. If you’re self-taught, career-switching, or have a nontraditional background, we want to hear from you. Physical Requirements This is a remote-first role. Occasional travel may be optional for team sessions, school visits, or partner meetings as the company grows. Commitment to Diversity Ecopreneur is committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and values-driven team. We believe meaningful innovation comes from diverse lived experiences and perspectives. We encourage candidates of all backgrounds, identities, and paths to apply. Pay: From $1.00 per year Application Question(s): • Are you comfortable in receiving no cash compensation for this role until post seed funding round is complete and receiving anywhere between 5-20% equity in the company in lieu of cash compensation for the time being? • How many hours a week can you contribute to this role?
