Fund Research Analyst
About the position The Fund Research Analyst position offers a valuable opportunity to learn and excel within the Fidelity Institutional Wealth Adviser (FIWA) Research team. The role involves conducting investment manager due diligence research. The core responsibilities include: Conducting manager research/ongoing due diligence of Multi-Asset investment strategies, including mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts (SMAs), and other investment vehicles. You will lead due-diligence meetings with portfolio managers to discuss their investment philosophy and process, their team's behavioral traits, their strategy's risk and return characteristics. You will use appropriate analytical and research tools to conduct independent and thorough research. The objective is to combine qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate the manager's skills and identify key performance drivers and potential risks. You will document your evidence-based research and analysis, and be able to make appropriate recommendations. Responsibilities • Conducting manager research/ongoing due diligence of Multi-Asset investment strategies, including mutual funds, ETFs, separately managed accounts (SMAs), and other investment vehicles. • Leading due-diligence meetings with portfolio managers to discuss their investment philosophy and process. • Evaluating the team's behavioral traits and the strategy's risk and return characteristics. • Using appropriate analytical and research tools to conduct independent and thorough research. • Combining qualitative and quantitative analysis to evaluate the manager's skills. • Identifying key performance drivers and potential risks. • Documenting evidence-based research and analysis. • Making appropriate recommendations based on research. Requirements • Bachelor's Degree required. • Masters and/or CFA credential preferred (or progressing towards CFA charter). • Series 7 and 63 licenses a plus. • Sound analytical mind-set and communication skills (verbal and written). • 2-5 years of relevant experience with a good understanding of Multi-Asset investment products. • Prior experience in manager research covering these products is ideal. • Strong expertise in manager research/analytical tools (such as Morningstar, FactSet, eVestment) preferred. • Proficient in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. • Ability to manage time effectively and meet concurrent and frequent deadlines. • Independent but also able to balance independence with teamwork and collaboration.
