Function Pricing & Underwriting Analytics, is charged with delivering strategic pricing capabilities, fostering a unified perspective on pricing as a competitive advantage and aligning the pricing strategies with business objective and product strategy. This is not just the task of developing a rate plan or dashboard but deep knowledge that we need to compete and keep up with the sweeping changes in the industry and technological developments ahead (and needs of the present). This team does a good deal of technical work - actuarial analysis to understand prior outcomes, market research to find opportunities and development of our rates and underwriting models. But to ensure commercial viability their work -the technical execution is complemented with work on the product strategy. The target output are pricing plans that deliver tremendous strategic and commercial value across underwriting cycles and help the business evolve offensive strategies. Role This is a high impact role for a passionate insurance analytics expert, who enjoy connecting the dots between pricing, analytics and business strategy and has strong technical skills, a strategic mind and can conceptualize new ways of making sense of risk. You will build and lead a team to deliver the insights, pricing infrastructure and underwriting toolkit that provides the solid foundation we need to operate as smoothly, systematically, and sustainably as possible in the face of changing markets, technologies, and competition. You’ll report to the Chief Underwriting Officer and your work will be wide-ranging, spanning multiple business functions and all phases of the strategy/solution lifecycle– conceptualization, planning, execution, deployment, and evaluation. The incumbent must be able to successfully operate in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment, handling multiple competing priorities and pushing the thinking of senior leaders and colleagues by providing new insights. Responsibilities Pricing & UW Models • Accountable and responsible for the maintenance and maturing of the pricing strategy and framework across existing and new products ensuring alignment between pricing and business objectives. • Provides proactive insights, effective communication, and consultation on pricing strategies, trends, and analysis which inform the business’s overall pricing strategy. • Maintains awareness of competitor`s rates, pricing strategies, business strategies, and underwriting models to develop and drive pricing solutions. • Lead the development of pricing and underwriting analytics toolbox capabilities with an eye towards integrating data and insights to aide risk selection and pricing Strategy • Develop strong partnerships with CUO and senior underwriting leaders to understand the strategy of the business • Ensures team acts as a resource and advisor for the product leaders and foster adoption of new methods for achieving their overall business objectives. • Prioritizes and plans the execution of pricing and underwriting analytic initiatives. Works closely with various teams to ensure projects are scoped, planned, resourced, and delivered on-time and on spec. • Work closing with data and solution services team to ensure appropriate industrialization of analytic output for decision support and to setup appropriate strategic monitors Leadership • Develop and maintain analytical standards and procedures across team to ensure consistency and accuracy of analysis, execution, knowledge sharing and documentation. • Ability to be the “face” of the team to internal and external partners while strongly demonstrating Ategrity’s values. • Accountable for ensuring pricing strategy is compliant with regulatory and privacy requirements. Qualifications/Requirements • Technical: strong knowledge and experience using complex datasets to develop analytical outputs, conducting research and analysis on business topics – either in a business or academic setting. • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technical discipline such as Actuarial Science, Statistics, Finance, Economics, Engineering, Statistics. • 5+ years of experience in an analytics role demonstrating practical application of technical skills or significant comparable academic training and experience. • 5+ year experience in Insurance Pricing, Analytics, Underwriting, Exposure management or Claims function • People management/development: Strong people management and development experience with a track record of getting others to execute efficiently towards a common and understood goal. • Ability to lead projects: Excellent project management skills; able to co-ordinate multiple tasks and make sure work output of others is delivered on-time and accurately • Thought Leadership: Demonstrate both strategic and tactical thought leadership. Ability to connect strategy with the needs of the business and to drive innovation towards competitive advantage. • Ability to influence decisions: Communicate using data to influence key decisions and the ability to strategically calculate and influence results.
