[Hiring] Surveyor – Laboratory Medical Technologist @Joint Commission

Role Description The Medical Technologist Surveyor conducts thorough evaluations of laboratory programs across the United States. • Applies systems analysis skills and inductive reasoning skills to determine laboratory's degree of compliance with applicable standards-based issues in health care. • Assesses compliance and identifies opportunities for improving compliance. • Prepares management reports that clearly link individual standards deficiencies with potential systems vulnerabilities and related organization risk points. • Effectively communicates this information in a constructive and collegial style. • Participates in other Joint Commission activities as assigned by supervisor. Qualifications • Medical Technologist with a Master's degree in a health-related field. • Registered with a nationally accredited organization. • Certification requirement: Must hold a CPHQ certification (Certified Professional in Healthcare Quality) through National Association for Healthcare Quality (NAHQ) at time of hire or attain by 12/31/28. • Experience in three or more technical areas. • Working knowledge of compliance and regulatory accreditation is essential. • Strong customer service skills. • Experience working in a large point of care setting. • Experience in leading or participating in regulatory and safety committees. • Experience in sales or teaching is highly desirable. • Five years of recent experience, including 3 years of direct clinical experience in the appropriate health care setting(s), and 2 years of accreditation or certification leadership or senior management experience. • Contemporary knowledge of and experience in health care operations, clinical practice, use of performance improvement methods to assess organizational performance, and current research and trends relative to health care. • Experience in an accredited health care organization is preferred. • Direct involvement in healthcare accreditation surveys preferred. • Knowledge of Joint Commission standards and direct involvement with a minimum of two Joint Commission surveys preferred. Requirements • Must be able to observe, in real time and without slowing or otherwise interrupting the progress of all applicable types of ongoing health care treatment. • Standing for long periods of time, walking lengthy distances, lifting, climbing, stooping, pulling, and pushing to adequately inspect and observe all medical facilities, equipment, and procedures. • Must be able to engage in extensive travel, including driving a car to remote locations, flying on small airplanes and into small airports, traveling in all types of weather conditions. • Candidates interested in part-time positions must be available to work two weeks per month (0.48 FTE) and must provide two weeks of availability for scheduling. • Full-time positions (0.70 and 1.0 FTE) are also available. • All positions require 100% nationwide travel.
