About the position The Industrial Engineer II, Warehouse Design position at GXO Logistics involves designing, developing, testing, and evaluating integrated systems for managing industrial production processes. This includes human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination. The role requires preparing engineering calculations and documents detailing storage and shipping capacity, facility sizing, zoning, slotting, and waving. The engineer will analyze data from systems to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, implementing changes to workflows, software configurations, or hardware setups to enhance overall performance. Collaboration with the Data Analytics team is essential to analyze client data for order profiles, storage media applications, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, and ABC analysis. The position also involves participating in reviews with key work stream leads, collecting and analyzing data to track KPIs, and generating reports and dashboards to identify trends for process optimization. Additionally, the engineer will design overall facility layouts, oversee installation and setup of automated systems, and communicate project status to stakeholders. This position is open to telecommuting from anywhere in the United States, with 50% domestic travel required. Responsibilities • Design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes. • Prepare engineering calculations and documents detailing storage and shipping capacity, facility sizing, zoning, slotting, and waving. • Analyze data from systems to identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies. • Implement changes to workflows, software configurations, or hardware setups to enhance overall performance. • Collaborate with Data Analytics team to analyze client data for order profiles, storage media applications, product slotting, velocity, SKU affinities, and ABC analysis. • Participate in reviews with key work stream leads, including engineering peers, WMS implementation, and operations teams. • Collect and analyze data to track KPIs and measure warehouse performance. • Design overall facility layout with storage media and flow. • Select appropriate equipment for Concept of Operations. • Develop detailed engineering processes for new business awards. • Oversee installation and setup of automated systems and equipment. • Communicate project status to stakeholders. • Prepare WMS configuration documentation and identify new WMS and interface requirements. • Manage material handling and automation vendors. • Develop inventory control strategies to ensure accurate stock levels. • Track and manage inventory using WMS. • Support solutions team's response to RFPs. • Participate in Joint Planning Sessions and conduct gap analysis. • Develop training materials and conduct training for warehouse staff. • Create and update documentation, manuals, and SOPs for processes and automated systems. • Monitor and maintain warehouse systems. • Ensure compliance of all automated systems with OSHA regulations and safety standards. • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments. Requirements • Bachelor's degree in Industrial & Systems Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field. • 2 years of experience in Engineer, Industrial; Industrial Engineer I or related. • Experience with AutoCAD. • Experience with Time Study measurement, including Maynard Operation Sequence Technique (MOST). • Experience in Third-Party Logistics (3PL) warehousing, distribution, or fulfillment. • Project and resource management skills. • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SQL, and Lean Methodologies. • Experience with Production Schedule Control and Labor Management.
