Information Architecture and Website Content Strategist Contractor

We are looking for a contractor who will be a key leader on project teams, working directly with clients and partnering with designers and engineers to define and execute comprehensive content strategies. This role is responsible for planning and leading discovery, navigation and sitemap restructuring, content modeling, and auditing activities for large-scale CMS and redesign projects, ensuring the creation of well-organized, planned, and sustainable content that meets both audience needs and organizational objectives. How You Show Up: • Communicate effectively with project teams and clients stakeholders • Manage your own work and tasks, ensuring on-time, on-budget, delivery • Collaborate openly, sharing work and incorporating feedback from team members • Keep track of your own time for estimation and invoicing purposes • Easily context switches and works across different projects Core Skills and Experience • 5-10 years of creating UX, IA, and content strategy for complex content systems • User-centered research and facilitation • Using research, audits, and analytics to inform recommendations • Understanding how website content, structure, and performance impacts SEO, AIO, GEO • Partnering with designers and developers to align recommendations with project constraints • Partner closely with designers to ensure content strategy supports strong UX • Using emerging AI tools to analyze content and guide strategic recommendations • Simply explaining complex IA and content decisions to project teams and client stakeholders Tools and Technical Familiarity • Figma and Figjam • Google Workplace • CMS platforms: WordPress and Drupal • Google Analytics 4 • SEO tools (basic keyword research and on-page optimization) • LLM prompting (any popular model) • Usability testing tools (tree testing, card sorting, moderated tests, etc.) Key Deliverables Discovery & Research • Stakeholder interview guides and summaries • Client workshop facilitation • Interactive workshop assets in Figjam • Competitive Analysis • User research plans and findings (interviews, surveys, etc.) • Website content, IA, and analytics audits • Strategy Briefs Content Strategy • Content inventories • Content gap analyses and improvement recommendations • Content migration plans and mapping documents • Content prioritization frameworks (e.g., core vs. supporting content) • Page-level content guidance • Editorial or governance recommendations Information Architecture • Sitemap (current and proposed) • Navigation recommendations • Content models • Entity relationship diagrams • Taxonomy, and tag systems Collaboration • Design and UX collaboration • Design review feedback focused on clarity, hierarchy, and comprehension • Client presentations • Internal team meetings Usability Testing and Validation • Usability test plans and scripts (IA/content-focused) • Synthesis reports with prioritized recommendations SEO, AIO/GEO and Performance Measurement • Measurement plans outlining KPIs and success metrics • Keyword research summaries tied to IA and content structure • SEO recommendations for page titles, meta descriptions, headings • Guidance for AI search optimization (AIO/GEO) related to structured content Client Communication • Client-facing strategy presentations • Workshop agendas and facilitation materials • Decision-making documentation with final deliverables that clearly explain tradeoffs and rationale Original job Information Architecture and Website Content Strategist Contractor posted on GrabJobs ©.
