This commitment and pride make for a dynamic workplace. Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Information Security Officer to join our university's Technology department. As the Information Security Officer, you will be responsible for overseeing the development, implementation, and management of the university's information security program. The ideal candidate should possess a strong technical background in systems administration and security, along with 3-5 years of experience in an information security role. Additionally, experience in creating and delivering information security awareness programs and proficiency in handling various security applications are crucial for this role. This position may be eligible for partial or full remote work. Responsibilities: 1. Develop and Implement Information Security Programs: Design and execute comprehensive information security programs and policies that align with the university's strategic goals and regulatory requirements. 2. Technical Systems Administration: Provide technical expertise in systems administration to effectively secure and manage the university's IT infrastructure and systems. 3. Information Security Awareness Program: Design, create, and deliver an effective information security awareness training program for university staff, faculty, and students. 4. Incident Response and Threat Management: Oversee incident response procedures and manage security incidents, investigating and mitigating potential security breaches or cyber threats. 5. Security Application Management: Manage and maintain various security applications, including Splunk - SIEM, CloudFlare - CDN/WAF, MS365 Defender - EDR/AV, OpenVAS - Penetration Testing, DUO Two-Factor Authentication, and KnowBe4 - Cybersecurity training. 6. Security Policy Development: Develop and maintain information security policies, procedures, and guidelines that comply with industry standards and regulations. 7. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular risk assessments, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing to identify security weaknesses and recommend appropriate remediation measures. 8. Security Incident Reporting: Prepare and present regular security reports to senior management and stakeholders, highlighting potential risks and recommended actions. 9. Training and Support: Collaborate with IT staff and end-users to provide guidance, support, and training on information security best practices. 10. Security Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards related to information security and data privacy. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in a technology-related field (Master's degree preferred). 3-5 years of experience in a senior information security role. Strong technical background in systems administration. Experience creating and delivering information security awareness programs. Proven track record in developing and implementing information security programs and policies. Familiarity with security applications, especially Splunk - SIEM, CloudFlare - CDN/WAF, MS365 Defender - EDR/AV, OpenVAS - Penetration Testing, DUO Two-Factor Authentication, and KnowBe4 - Cybersecurity training, is a plus. Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or related certifications are highly desirable. Analytical mindset and problem-solving skills to address complex security challenges. Detail-oriented and proactive approach to security risk management.
