With more than 40 years of experience forging multisector partnerships, and with expertise in science, economics, technology, advocacy, and dozens of other specialties, PATH develops and scales up innovative solutions to the world’s most pressing health challenges. The LGBTQIA+ People Resource Group (PRG) was established in April, 2020, with the mission to promote a safe, inclusive community and culture for the lesbian, gay, bisexual, pansexual, transgender, genderqueer, queer, intersex, agender, asexual, questioning, and ally (LGBTQIA+) community at PATH. The intern will work with the LGBTQIA+ PRG to conduct research and analysis aligned with PRG activities, develop communication materials for internal and external audiences, and support the coordination and administration of the LGBTQIA+ PRG and the cross-PRG convening. Responsibilities & activities: Research and analysis • Conduct a review of current and past PATH projects with a focus on LGBTQIA+ communities via desk review of project documentation and interviews with PATH staff. Develop a tracking system to document key project details and findings that could also accommodate future projects. • Conduct and document findings from a high-level review of organizations working with LGBTQIA+ populations in the global health sector, including identifying potential learning series speakers. • Identify helpful resources for LGBTQIA+ staff and develop resource portal. • Assist with identifying and/or developing a set of travel resources. Communications • Collaborate with PRG members to identify and conduct outreach to organizations with LGBTQIA+-focused employee resource groups for networking and resource sharing. • Coordinate and contribute to LGBTQIA+ content development for quarterly PRG newsletter. • Collaborate with PRG members to develop materials (e.g., web articles, fact sheets) on the intersection of PATH's work and LGBTQIA+ populations, and PATH's support for human rights (including LGBTQIA+ rights). • Coordinate monthly convening of PRG leads including meeting scheduling and drafting agendas with input from PRG leads. • Contribute to the development and dissemination of quarterly PRG Newsletter in collaboration with PRG leads and members, including writing original newsletter content and eliciting content from PRG members, facilitating review, editing, and dissemination processes. Coordination and administration • Coordinate routine PRG meetings including scheduling, drafting meeting agendas with input from PRG leads and members, and taking meeting minutes. • Maintain LGBTQIA+ PRG project files and documentation. • Assist with ad hoc event planning and coordination. Required Experience • Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an academic program at the start of the internship (may graduate part way through). • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively in a fast-paced environment. • Demonstrated interest in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI); health equity; global health; and the social determinants of health. Interest in LGBTQIA+-inclusive workplaces and public health practice strongly preferred. • Basic research and analytical skills, ability to conduct secondary/desk research of peer-reviewed and gray literature and distill and communicate key findings in a cohesive, organized manner. • Comfort with collaborating with internal team members across all levels of the organization. • Ability to clearly and accurately document meeting minutes and action items and to maintain clear and organized shared project documentation and file structures. • Excellent command over MS Office applications, especially MS Word, MS Excel, and MS PowerPoint. Proficiency in SmartSheet desired or interest/ability to learn. • Fluency in written and spoken English. • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States. • This internship may be eligible for a monthly stipend; however, PATH does not provide stipends to interns who are California residents. • * All PATH internships are eligible for school credit. Please refer to your university's process for credit eligibility. • ** Internship is anticipated to start in June, 2021, and have a duration of 3-6 months.
