IT Accessibility Compliance Specialist

Our client, a leader in digital accessibility and procurement compliance within the education sector, is seeking a dedicated IT Accessibility Compliance Specialist to join their team. As an IT Accessibility Compliance Specialist, you will be an integral part of the Accessibility and Procurement Support team, driving initiatives that promote inclusive technology solutions. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving, which will align successfully in the organization. Job Title: IT Accessibility Compliance Specialist Location: Remote, with required travel across California (2–5 days per trip, typically with one week between travel) Pay Range: starting from $53 What's the Job? • Conduct accessibility reviews and risk assessments for ICT procurements to ensure compliance with Section 508, ADA, and WCAG 2.1 AA standards. • Evaluate vendor accessibility documentation such as VPATs, accessibility statements, and TAAPs to verify adherence to accessibility requirements. • Provide expert guidance on Section 508 and contractual accessibility obligations during procurement processes. • Lead vendor demonstrations and accessibility testing to ensure products meet required standards. • Develop and manage Temporary Alternate Access Plans (TAAPs) and refine procurement frameworks to support accessibility maturity models. What's Needed? • 5–7 years of experience in IT procurement accessibility or related fields, with a focus on compliance and legal interpretation. • Proven ability to interpret and apply Section 508 and ADA regulations from both compliance and contractual perspectives. • Proficiency with WCAG 2.1 AA standards and accessibility testing tools (manual and automated). • Experience reviewing VPATs and vendor accessibility documentation. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills, with strong project management capabilities across multiple teams and vendors.
