Labor Employment Associate

This is an outstanding opportunity for an attorney seeking hands-on experience and mentorship from some of the most respected practitioners in the field—without sacrificing work-life balance or collegiality. The firm is seeking a talented Associate Attorney with 2+ years of experience in Labor & Employment law to join its dynamic team. Individual must have some exposure and experience with PAGA. This role offers a high level of substantive responsibility and client contact from day one. You’ll work closely with experienced partners on complex employment litigation, counseling, and compliance matters for a discerning clientele. Responsibilities: • Advise employers on a wide range of labor and employment matters, including wage and hour, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, leaves of absence, and workplace investigations • Handle PAGA matters, including pre-litigation strategy, discovery, motion practice, settlement negotiations, and coordination with state agencies • Draft and review employment agreements, handbooks, policies, and separation agreements • Manage employment litigation matters from pre-litigation through resolution, including drafting pleadings, motions, and discovery • Assist with administrative proceedings before agencies such as the EEOC, DFEH/CRD, and DLSE • Support clients with compliance issues involving federal, state, and local employment laws • Conduct legal research and prepare memoranda and client advisories • Collaborate with partners and senior associates on complex employment disputes and counseling matters Qualifications: • Juris Doctor degree from an ABA-accredited law school and active bar membership in California • 2+ years of labor and employment law experience (litigation and/or counseling) • Demonstrated exposure to and experience with PAGA claims, including wage-and-hour class or representative actions • Strong legal research, writing, and analytical skills • Experience handling employment-related motions, discovery, and client counseling preferred • Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced environment • Excellent communication skills and a client-service mindset Compensation & Benefits: • Base Salary: $180,000–$200,000+ (DOE) • Bonus: Discretionary annual performance bonus • Benefits: Comprehensive health, dental, and vision coverage; 401(k) with firm match; paid time off; and additional perks within a highly congenial, team-oriented culture.
