Job Overview We're seeking a highly skilled Lead Big Data Engineer to join our dynamic team in Minnesota, USA. As a full-time remote opportunity, you'll have the flexibility to work from anywhere while contributing to the development of scalable, high-performance data solutions using Big Data technologies like Hadoop, NoSQL, and distributed computing environments. Key Responsibilities Design and Implementation: Assist in defining software architecture to ensure consistency across online business solutions. Participate in the decision-making process for selecting software design solutions. Implement models to manage web-scale data and its integration. Develop and improve core software infrastructure. Create interactive dashboards, reports, and analytics templates. Implement and maintain a platform for ad-hoc access to large datasets. Scope of Work: Translate key requirements into effective solutions that meet business needs. Provide consultation on complex projects. Review and approve specifications to ensure consistency in approach and usage. Serve as a technical and business-savvy resource for programming staff on software design issues. Perform systems and applications performance characterization and benchmarking studies. Research advancements in coding standards. Essential Qualifications To excel in this role, you'll need: A long-term degree in Software Engineering or equivalent experience. Broad understanding of software development and design principles. Proficiency in at least one of the following programming languages: Java, Scala, Python. Experience with Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Druid, etc. Demonstrated ability to collaborate with teams and partners to improve the overall functional development of the Big Data ecosystem. Extensive experience in operational aspects of a comprehensive Big Data platform, including monitoring and alerts management, availability, capacity management, and administration management. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following skills and experience will give you a competitive edge: Experience with distributed computing environments and NoSQL databases. Knowledge of data mining and text mining techniques. Familiarity with data visualization tools and techniques. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
