Job Summary The Library Media Assistant will provide essential support to the Library Media Specialist and school administrators, ensuring the smooth operation of library services and programs. This is a unique opportunity to work in a dynamic educational setting, utilizing your skills and experience to make a positive impact on the lives of our students. Key Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring for eligible students, as needed Assist with classroom management in the library, including organizing instructional materials and resources Support students and staff with technology, as required Develop and implement parental involvement activities related to library/media services Collaborate with teachers and staff to implement best practices in the classroom, based on scientifically-based research Assist in managing library collections under the supervision of a qualified Library Media Specialist Represent the library's interests on site-based and school improvement committees Perform other duties as assigned by the Library Media Specialist or school administrators Requirements and Qualifications To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications: Successful completion of training at an accredited college or institution of higher learning Experience with one-on-one teaching practices Knowledge of library services and practices Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to positively interact with teachers, parents, and students Preferred qualifications include: Experience working in a library or educational setting Familiarity with educational technology and software applications Strong organizational and communication skills Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you must possess the following skills and competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits Decatur Public Schools is committed to supporting the professional growth and development of our staff.
