Manager, Operations Control at American Airlines

We are seeking an experienced and skilled Manager to join our Operations Control team at American Airlines. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing and directing the activities of Dispatchers during scheduled and non-scheduled operations, ensuring compliance with American Airlines' operating policies and procedures. Job Summary: • Lead and manage a large and complex organization through coordination with various stakeholders, individual contributors, and frontline team members. • Monitor potential impact of weather, aircraft mechanical issues, air traffic control requirements, fuel supplies, security issues, labor issues, or other sources of disruption to the overall airline operation. • Develop and implement strategies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as OSHA, TSA, FAA, and Department of Transportation. • Advocate for passenger interests to meet DOT 259 Enhanced Protections for Airline Passengers regulations. • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement initiatives to reduce costs, gain efficiencies, and enhance customer service and employee experience. Requirements: • Bachelor's or graduate degree or equivalent education/experience. • 3+ years of management experience leading large teams in Technical Operations, Operations Control, Airport Operations, or Cargo, including unionized frontline workgroups. • Ability to influence others through exceptional communication skills, collaboration, and negotiation skills. • Ability to be an action-oriented and results-driven leader, with a natural ability to engage employees across different workgroups. Preferred Qualifications: • FAA Airline Dispatcher Certificate preferred. • In-depth knowledge of the airline industry and technical operations, American Airlines' business strategy, company policies and procedures, and collective bargaining agreements. • Strong technical knowledge of aircraft maintenance procedures, as well as FAA policies, practices, and procedures.
