As a Manager, Software Engineering, you will play a pivotal role in driving the success of our streaming services by leading a diverse team of engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver top-notch products. Key Responsibilities Building and Managing a High-Performing Team: Develop and mentor a diverse team of software engineers, focusing on their professional growth, training, and career development. Technical Vision and Strategy: Own the technical vision for applications and tools, ensuring alignment with business objectives and driving innovation. Collaboration and Goal Setting: Work closely with product managers and stakeholders to prioritize work, set goals, and ensure the team is aligned with business outcomes. Engineering Excellence: Refine engineering practices, maintain operational excellence, and drive the adoption of best practices across the team. Adaptability and Innovation: Demonstrate the ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements, drive innovation, and explore new technologies to stay ahead of the curve. Essential Qualifications and Skills To succeed in this role, you must possess a strong background in software engineering and leadership. The ideal candidate will have: 3+ Years of Engineering Management Experience: Proven track record of leading high-performing teams and driving technical innovation. 3+ Years of Programming Experience: Strong programming skills in object-oriented languages, with a solid grasp of computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, and databases. Experience with Event-Driven Systems: Hands-on experience with event-driven systems models, preferably with reactive design principles. Cloud Services Experience: Practical knowledge of delivering web services in cloud infrastructure, with experience in writing unit tests and implementing test-driven development processes. Bachelor's Degree in Relevant Field: Four-year degree in Computer Science, Data Systems, Programming, Electrical or Hardware Engineering, or equivalent field of study, or comparable work experience. Preferred Qualifications While not mandatory, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable: Reactive Programming Experience: Deep experience with reactive programming on JVM languages, ideally Java. Service Management and Observability: Hands-on experience as a service manager with a background in creating and managing observability systems. AWS Services and Terraform: Experience managing AWS services, with specific expertise in using Terraform or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools. NoSQL Data Stores: Hands-on experience with distributed NoSQL data stores like DynamoDB, Cassandra, Scylla, and Couchbase. Global Team Experience: Experience working with remote global teams and adapting to flexible schedules across different time zones.
