Spees Design Build is a nationally recognized architecture and engineering firm driven by purpose, integrity, and technical excellence. They are currently seeking a highly motivated Mechanical Project Engineer to join their growing A/E team in Spokane, WA, where the role involves performing mechanical design tasks and managing a small mechanical team to deliver high-quality projects. Responsibilities You will perform mechanical design tasks, including: HVAC load calculations Verifying compliance with building codes, energy codes, and various standards Design calculations Space planning and equipment layouts Designing ductwork and piping systems Specification editing and review You will visit project sites to gather design information and document existing conditions You must be thorough and focused on design details You must be comfortable with and proficient at communication with the internal design team and the client You have a willingness to assist with any required tasks You take ownership of the mechanical design scope of work for a project and ensure all project requirements are achieved You coordinate and manage a small mechanical team to produce a high-quality deliverable while meeting project deadlines You participate in activities and organizations related to our industry outside of daily business routines and develop peer relationships and technical growth Skills You have a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering You have 1 to 6+ years of experience designing HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems You have experience coordinating with interdisciplinary teams You have experience with Revit and AutoCAD You have experience with HVAC load calculation software You are familiar with state and federal codes and industry standards You must be thorough and focused on design details You must be comfortable with and proficient at communication with the internal design team and the client You have a willingness to assist with any required tasks You take ownership of the mechanical design scope of work for a project and ensure all project requirements are achieved You coordinate and manage a small mechanical team to produce a high-quality deliverable while meeting project deadlines You participate in activities and organizations related to our industry outside of daily business routines and develop peer relationships and technical growth Sitting at a desk and working on a computer for prolonged periods Able to lift up to 15 pounds at times Occasional travel to various project sites for field investigation and construction inspection (20%) Authorization to work in the United States is required Trace 3D experience is a plus Your LEED or WELL certification is a plus Your leadership or management experience is a plus Experience with federal design work and federal projects is a plus Benefits Hybrid Work Schedule Medical and Dental Insurance Options Company Life Insurance Plan Tax-free Health Savings Account (HSA) Flexible Paid Time Off (PTO) policy Performance-based bonuses 401(k) retirement plan with employer matching Company Overview Hernandez Consulting & Construction is a project management firm and general contractor specializing in construction, architecture, real estate development, sustainability and energy management consulting.
