Conduct thorough and timely investigations into deaths within Fillmore and Mower Counties that require medical and legal attention. Gather and analyze evidence from crime scenes, autopsies, and other sources to determine the cause and manner of death. Communicate effectively with medical professionals, law enforcement, and families of the deceased to gather information and provide updates on the investigation. Maintain accurate and detailed records of all investigations, including notes, photographs, and reports. Coordinate with other agencies and departments, such as medical examiners and toxicology labs, to ensure a comprehensive investigation. Adhere to all relevant laws, regulations, and protocols related to death investigations. Collaborate with the legal team to provide evidence and expert testimony in court proceedings when necessary. Stay up-to-date on advancements and developments in forensic science to continuously improve investigation techniques. Provide emotional support and empathy to families of the deceased during the investigation process. Assist in the identification and notification of next of kin. Maintain a strong working relationship with law enforcement agencies and other community partners. Adhere to strict confidentiality and privacy policies to protect sensitive information.
