Metadata Management Librarian
About the position Responsibilities • Coordinate and provide expertise in metadata management and batch processing. • Design, manage, and enhance metadata workflows within the integrated library system. • Lead metadata transformation and enhancement projects. • Provide training and development opportunities for library staff. • Develop and maintain documentation for metadata workflows. • Analyze and streamline cataloging processes to optimize efficiency. • Coordinate and troubleshoot batch processes for metadata loading and transformation. • Contribute to electronic resources cataloging and management. Requirements • Master's Degree in Library/Information Science or equivalent terminal degree. • One year post-degree experience in copy and/or original cataloging in an academic library. • Knowledge of cataloging standards and practices, including MARC formats and RDA. • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or similar spreadsheet software. • Ability to use programmatic tools for metadata manipulation. Nice-to-haves • Experience with scripting languages like Python for automating tasks. • Proficiency with Microsoft Access or another relational database. • Experience with Ex Libris' Alma ILS system. • Experience in developing and delivering training on technical processes.
