About this Position: Job Title: Microsoft SQL Database Administrator - Remote Role BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: • We are seeking support and maintenance of Microsoft SQL Database Administration, Amazon Web Services (AWS) Database Infrastructure, and DB2 z/OS Database Administration. • The consultant will provide expert knowledge and experience to assist State staff in managing client's database infrastructure and database environments across multiple networks, including mainframe, on-premise, and AWS environments. • The consultant will provide operational support and work closely with state staff to perform day-to-day system administration, database security, maintenance, and operational activities in support of database environments, ensuring a successful and healthy database infrastructure. • This consultant will be required to enforce all database architecture and relevant procedures in accordance with established policies and standards. • This includes updating and enforcing security for all databases, proactively monitoring databases to identify potential problems, and troubleshooting and correcting database issues efficiently and in a timely manner. • Consultant must also provide adequate technical database support for on-premise, AWS, and DB2 databases, which must be functioning and available 24 hours a day, seven (7) days a week (24x7). Mandatory Qualifications: • Seven (7) years of FTE experience in electronic data processing systems study, design, and programming. At least four (4) years of that experience must have been in a lead capacity. • Possess a bachelor's degree in an IT-related or Engineering field. Additional qualifying experience may be substituted for the required education on a year-for-year basis. • Five (5) years of FTE experience performing administration and managing SQL servers and databases, including SQL Server 2014-2022, SSIS, SSAS, and SSRS. • Five (5) years of FTE experience in ensuring automated data consistency between production, User Acceptance Testing (UAT)/Staging, and lower-level environments. • Five (5) years of FTE experience writing T-SQL code and stored procedures to monitor, automate and support database administrator (DBA) day-to-day activities. • Five (5) years of FTE experience with optimizing database access and allocating resources for optimum performance. • Five (5) years of FTE experience supporting 100+ database servers and ensuring security control, data integrity, and accessibility of data. • Five (5) years of FTE experience with database backup/ recovery and fast recovery strategies. • Five (5) years of FTE experience with reviewing database code from a data security perspective. • Five (5) years of FTE experience supporting Always-ON High Availability clustered databases. Desired Qualifications: • Experience with cloud services (AWS or Microsoft Azure) converting MS SQL databases to Azure SQL Managed Instance, Azure SQL, and AWS RDS. Six (6) points will be given for every twelve (12) months of experience for a maximum of thirty (30) points. • Experience with creating APIs for self-service consumption and third-party data access or data extraction. Six (6) points will be given for every twelve (12) months of experience for a maximum of thirty (30) points. • Experience with SQL monitoring tools (i.e., Idera Diagnostic Manager, Redgate ToolBelt, DataDog, DynaTrace, etc.) Six (6) points will be given for every twelve (12) months of experience for a maximum of thirty (30) points. • Experience with SQL auditing tools (i.e., Imperva SecureSphere, etc.). Six (6) points will be given for every twelve (12) months of experience for a maximum of thirty (30) points. • Experience with relational database management systems (RDBMS) like Oracle, MySQL, or other open source databases such as NoSQL, PostgreSQL.
