Part‑Time Instructional Designer, MDC Online Join to apply for the Part‑Time Instructional Designer, MDC Online role at Inside Higher Ed Job Location: Wolfson Campus Employment type: Temporary – Part‑Time Grade: H6 Salary: $20.00 – $27.33 per hour Department: MDC Online Reports To: Campus Chief Information Officer or assigned Department Supervisor Closing Date: Open Until Filled FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt First Review Date: January 17, 2025 Position Overview: Assists the campus with the development of blended and web‑enhanced courses in Blackboard and with the development of instructional materials and faculty web pages. Participates as a team member in the Student Success Center and assists tutors with instructional activities. What you will be doing • Assists faculty with the planning and development of web‑based application tools to support online courses • Assesses faculty needs regarding their experience with instructional technology • Designs and implements faculty development activities that support technology use in instruction • Works with faculty to design, develop, and evaluate courses using instructional design principles • Conducts individual and group sessions to help improve curricula of targeted courses • Recommends expenditures needed to support faculty development of online courses • Performs support for technologies used to create online courses • Collaborates with campus leadership on information for purchasing equipment • Performs other duties as assigned What you need to succeed • Bachelor's Degree in Instructional Technology or a related field from a regionally accredited institution and three (3) years of related work experience • Knowledge of college organization, goals, objectives, and policies • Excellent instructional design skills • Exceptional skills in developing web courses using a web‑course environment • Knowledge of learning management systems such as Blackboard, HTML, and other web technologies • Knowledge of graphic‑editing software • Ability to work as a team player • Ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision • Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills • Flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends as needed • Ability to work well in a multi‑ethnic and multi‑cultural environment with students, faculty, and staff Additional Requirements: The final candidate must successfully complete a background screening and reference check process.
