Patent Agent or Tech Advisor (Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech) - Houston

Direct Counsel is representing an AmLaw 100 firm seeking a Patent Prosecution & Litigation – Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech Technical Advisor or Patent Agent. This AmLaw 100 firm is seeking a Patent Agent or Science Advisor to join its Intellectual Property practice as part of the Chemical/Pharmaceutical/Biotech team. This is an onsite position. The ideal candidate will be team-oriented and eager to work closely with pharmaceutical clients to pursue patent protection and support diligence efforts from early discovery through drug approval and commercialization. Science Advisor candidates will have the opportunity to transition from a scientific background into a career in patent law, working with a collaborative, supportive team. Preferred Technical Experience Candidates should have research or patent preparation/prosecution experience related to small molecule drugs or biologics in one or more of the following areas: • Gene editing technologies • Antibodies • Peptide synthesis • Formulation • Drug manufacturing • Protein degraders • Small molecule drugs • Medicinal chemistry • Immunology An advanced degree (PhD) or equivalent experience is strongly preferred. Although the teams you will collaborate with are primarily based in Boston and Raleigh, candidates in other office locations—and hybrid or remote arrangements—will be fully considered, provided they can remain accessible and responsive to client needs.
