Principal Auditor (AUDIT PROFL 4)

Job Summary With minimal supervision and support from AMAS management, performs higher complexity and higher-sensitivity audits, advisory service projects, and investigations covering financial, operational, and compliance areas across UC Davis and UC Davis Health. Performs engagements in accordance with the Standards for Professional Practice of Internal Auditing and the Code of Ethics of the Institute of Internal Auditors. Assesses organizational and operational risks; designs and executes work programs; prepares work papers; maintains communication with operating staff and management; develops recommendations; drafts reports to management; performs post-engagement work as necessary to ensure that corrective actions are implemented. Promotes concepts of internal control to assist University personnel in the discharge of their duties. Apply By Date December 18, 2025 at 11:59pm Qualifications Minimum Qualifications - For full consideration, applicants are encouraged to upload license and/or certification if required of the position • BS or BA Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Experience applying theories and principles related to internal auditing, accounting, compliance, law, healthcare administration, research administration, information systems, and/or information security. • Experience planning and executing projects. • Experience assessing risk within and at the intersections of differing technical subjects and/or business processes. • Experience writing, presenting, and defending informational and persuasive reports. Experience solving problems with existing resources. • Oral and written communication skills to interact with management and leadership. Preferred Qualifications • Relevant professional certification (CIA, CISA, CHIAP, CFE, etc.) or advanced academic or professional degree (MBA, JD, MHA, MS, etc.) • Experience interpreting and applying UC Davis policies and procedures • Knowledge of information systems in use at UC Davis such as Oracle Cloud Financial System (Aggie Enterprise), Banner Student Information System, Epic Electronic Medical Record, Infor Lawson. • Demonstrated ability to succeed in a remote work environment. Key Responsibilities • 90% - Performs Audits and Advisory Services • 5% - Enterprise Risk Assessment and Audit Planning • 5% - Training & Administration Department Overview The mission of Audit & Management Advisory Services (AMAS) is to assess and monitor the university community in the discharge of its oversight, management, and operating responsibilities in relation to governance processes, the systems of internal control, and compliance with laws, regulations and University policies including those related to ethical conduct by providing relevant, timely, independent, and objective assurance, advisory and investigative services using a systematic, disciplined approach to evaluate risk and improve effectiveness. AMAS is responsible for performing financial, operational, compliance, and information systems audits and investigations of the main Davis campus, and the Health System, which includes the UC Davis (UCD) Medical Center, School of Medicine and School of Nursing. Smoking, the use of smokeless tobacco products, and the use of unregulated nicotine products (e-cigarettes) will be strictly prohibited on any UC Davis owned or leased property, indoors and outdoors, including parking lots and residential space. • AMAS is a remote office, and most staff work from home or another secure location. A University-owned laptop and monitors are provided. Staff may work outside the state of California as long as they are able to perform their duties on Pacific Standard Time (PST). Shared workstations in Davis are available to staff who prefer to work in-office regularly or on occasion. AMAS staff work flexible schedules. Staff are generally expected to be accessible during the core business hours of 9am to 4pm PST, Monday through Friday. Modified schedules are approved for fully-performing staff who wish to start the day earlier, end the day later, and/or take additional or extended breaks midday. Staff have the option to work 9/80 or 4x10 flex schedules.
