Principal Cloud Architect- Hybrid New York, NY
Principal Cloud Architect As the Principal Cloud Architect, you'll be the person ultimately accountable for the architecture, reliability, and long-term viability of both the company's web platform and the PowerPoint add-in. You'll own the hard calls on distributed systems, hybrid networking between customer on-prem and AWS, and the future-state patterns required to satisfy the security, and compliance demands of global financial institutions. The company is located in New York, NY and will be 4 days onsite a week. What You Will Be Doing: • Architect, validate, and refine the web app and PowerPoint add-in for high-scale enterprise use. • Build and govern hybrid connectivity patterns between customer data centers and AWS (Direct Connect, VPN, Transit Gateway, PrivateLink). • Tear apart existing microservices and deployment patterns and rebuild what doesn't meet enterprise standards. • Make the hard trade-off calls around languages, messaging, data movement, and integration. • Define future-state architectures that satisfy strict security, compliance, and scalability constraints in the financial sector. • Own and maintain technical roadmaps for the company's modular, cloud-native architecture direction. • Align engineering, product, and leadership on architectural priorities and constraints. • Mentor engineers and instill architectural discipline across teams. • Present architecture decisions to enterprise IT/security stakeholders and stand behind them. Required Skills & Experience: • 10+ years across software development, cloud engineering, systems architecture, or infrastructure engineering. • Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math, or equivalent practical experience. • Demonstrated success designing and delivering distributed or cloud-native systems at scale (AWS strongly preferred). • Experience leading cloud transformations or building hybrid integrations from scratch. • Deep understanding of cloud networking, IAM, security boundaries, and data isolation models. • Strong communicator capable of explaining complex architectural reasoning to executives, customers, and engineers without hand-waving. • Proven ability to produce real architecture artifacts, run design reviews, and drive multi-team engineering initiatives to completion. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis now and in the future. This position doesn't provide sponsorship.
