Raytheon is seeking an experienced Data Scientist to join our Digital Technology Data, Analytics & AI Applied Artificial Intelligence team. What You Will Do: As a Principal Specialist Data Scientist, you will work with technical leaders and across functional areas to support the application of data science and software engineering methods and techniques for production-scale internal use and external research. You will collaborate with stakeholders across Raytheon, RTX, and the Applied Artificial Intelligence team to develop analytic products for agile delivery, spanning manufacturing, engineering, business development, and supply chain functions. This role allows you to influence organizational standards by researching and deploying technical solutions for customers as part of a broader ecosystem of machine learning and advanced analytics professionals. Qualifications You Must Have: • Typically requires a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience • Experience with Python development (numpy, scipy, scikit-image, and scikit-learn) for integration into statistical and/or machine learning applications (beyond academic examples). • Experience with relational databases management and SQL development. • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract. Qualifications We Prefer: • Experience meeting with business stakeholders to identify and develop requirements for strategic use cases and research opportunities. • Experience applying quantitative techniques (normalization, standardization, applied statistics) to cleanse and explore large, complex data sets in preparation for further analysis. • Experience with design, train, fine tune, deploy Large Language Models (LLMs) (e.g. GPT-based, Mistral, custom transformer architectures). • Experience in creating repeatable, reusable processes and scalable data products with the advanced analytics team using Scaled Agile Framework methodology. • Proficiency with at least one deep learning framework such as PyTorch, TensorFlow. • Experience building data visualizations with applications such as Tableau, Microsoft PowerBI, etc. • Experience with commercial software development processes: good software hygiene regarding code documentation, unit testing, bug tracking, version control, MLOps concepts, processes, and technologies. • Familiarity deploying machine learning models in public cloud services such as AWS, or Azure. • Experience with Complex Neural Net architectures and high performance compute management tools (i.e. Slurm). • Track record of GPU programming, network optimization and deployment for data science applications What We Offer • Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. Employees who are working in remote roles will work primarily offsite (from home) but may be expected to travel to the site location as needed. The successful candidate for this role will be required to reside and work from one of the 50 U.S. states (excluding U.S. territories). The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. Payments under these annual programs are not guaranteed and are dependent upon a variety of factors including, but not limited to, individual performance, business unit performance, and/or the company’s performance. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
