This role will focus on global compliance with privacy regulations, with a focus on North America, Japan, and China. Leveraging our privacy governance framework, global privacy principles, and matrix of privacy regulations, this role will build relationships globally and perform compliance control activities to drive privacy compliance and advance our program. Responsibilities • Act as trusted liaison between data privacy programs and appropriate global business and technology partners to achieve compliance with laws and internal policies and standards. • Assist in the management of appropriate risk control practices, including the support of assigned risk and compliance areas and risk register. • Leverage in-depth understanding of current and emerging global laws, requirements, and regulations to minimize risk to all Starbucks business model operations globally through assessments. • Proactively analyze data privacy regulations, case law and other relevant precedent to identify and communicate reasonable privacy requirements and controls, and apply that understanding to data based on risk levels. • Collaborate effectively with cross functional teams to ensure privacy by design principles are integrated throughout the development lifecycle. • Independently evaluate new/existing technologies by documenting and effectively communicating complex privacy business and technical requirements to Starbucks Technology and business owners. • Identify and track risk and compliance trends from privacy assessments to formulate recommendations on remediation and program enhancements. • Independently provide appropriate guidance, education, and communication to all relevant stakeholders on topics of privacy, compliance, and data ethics through robust privacy assessments. • Leverage business acumen to identify functional risks or gaps in programs and practices supported through program metrics, and drive improvements to the Starbucks privacy program. • Support the global privacy incident management program with investigation and remediation of privacy events and incidents. • Effectively utilize data privacy technology as it relates to operational practices; identify, communicate and execute on areas for process improvement. • Act as mentor to those learning privacy and provide appropriate guidance, education, training, and communication to all relevant stakeholders. • Demonstrate and effectively utilize knowledge of technology, including advertising technology and artificial intelligence/machine learning, and show curiosity through exploring new topics and proposing creative compliance solutions. • Maintain awareness of emerging privacy trends, risks, and requirements in areas such as Generative AI, AI systems, digital marketing and advertising, cookies & online tracking technologies, consent requirements and automated decision-making. Requirements • Strong experience in global customer data privacy, information risk management fields or in a related area. • Strong experience with privacy impact assessments (PIA), privacy compliance documents, and privacy risk mitigation. • Experience creating and supporting privacy training and awareness programs. • Experience working with and influencing business leaders in promotion of consistent principles and standards. • Experience analyzing and evaluating information systems and data integrations for privacy risks. • Ability to adapt to a fast-paced business and work environment while managing multiple priorities and maintaining productivity. • Strong verbal and written communication and presentation skills with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical staff. • Experience in understanding data privacy mapping/flows to identify potential risks and implement corrective measures, ensuring accurate tracking of personal information collection, usage, and disposal. • Bachelor's Degree or certificate degree (Privacy, Compliance, Computer Science, Analytics, or related field). • Certifications such as CIPP, CIPM or CIPT. • 3+ years of demonstrated experience as a privacy analyst or similar role. • 2+ years within a complex compliance or risk-based programs related to privacy. • 3+ years building and implementing projects and programs that include requirements, policies, standards and control deployment and enforcement. • 3+ years using privacy management principles, practices, and tools. • Demonstrated success in communication and collaborating across global cultures. • Proficient in OneTrust privacy modules.
