Title: Program Financial Operations Manager (Controller level) Company: Privately held transportation & logistics company Compensation: $145,000-$160,000 Location: Remote (must be located in one of these states: AL, CA, CO, FL, GA, KS, KY, MD, MI, NC, NJ, NV, NY, OH, OK, OR, SC, TX, VA, WA) Role Overview The Program Financial Operations Manager serves as an independent financial partner to program leadership, ensuring disciplined project financial control. This role analyzes performance against budgets, forecasts, and operating plans, identifies risks early, and provides clear insights to support informed decision making. Success requires accuracy, accountability, and strong cross-functional collaboration. Key Responsibilities • Set up and maintain project financial structures, including work breakdowns, labor plans, vendors, revenue schedules, and cash milestones. • Deliver monthly reporting packages covering revenue, margin, cashflow, and variances to plan. • Identify financial risks related to cash collection, revenue recognition, cost performance, and foreign exchange exposure. • Manage project related transactions, including intercompany activity, vendor invoices, accruals, reversals, and milestone billing. • Produce accurate cost forecasts and partner with project managers to explain variances and mitigation options. • Conduct ad hoc analyses and scenario modeling to assess impacts of delays, risks, or cost changes. • Collaborate with project managers, accounting teams, and functional departments to ensure integrated cost, schedule, and risk visibility. • Support development of project controls, reporting improvements, and optimization of project accounting tools. • Contribute to building scalable processes in a growing organization, with opportunities to develop into leadership roles. Qualifications • 7+ years in project accounting or finance supporting complex, multi-year programs. • Expertise with project accounting or PSA systems (e.g., NetSuite SuiteProject or similar). • Strong knowledge of GAAP and revenue recognition (ASC 606). • Advanced Excel skills and financial modeling capabilities. • Experience with foreign exchange and hedging considerations. • Detail oriented, independent mindset with strong communication skills.
