AECOM is seeking a dynamic Public Relations Specialist to plan, develop and execute external communications campaigns that are told across AECOM’s owned channels, on social media and in the press – working with cross-functional and geographically-dispersed members of the Global Communications team as well as internal clients. This position will offer flexibility for hybrid work schedules to include both in-office and telecommute/virtual work to be based in the NYC Metro area. The successful candidate will be a reliable and enthusiastic team player with a passion for storytelling both on social media and in the press, who is excited by the opportunity to be part of a company delivering many of the most iconic and impactful infrastructure projects around the world. Candidates must possess strong media relations and writing skills along with the acumen to advise others on communications strategies and initiatives and contribute to crisis management. With long-term goals in mind, this team member will develop plans, messaging and tactics with an understanding of business objectives through: Responsibilities • Create and deliver engaging, high-quality and compelling communications that tell the AECOM story. • Develop compelling content including articles/blogs, social media posts, press releases, emails, and press materials • Oversee incoming media inquiries, global media relations calendar, media relations processes • Manage press release review process with multiple teams and executives • Providing strategic support for crisis communications and issues management. • Guiding decision-making regarding adoption and use of new social media features/platforms. • Researching, outlining, writing, editing and proofreading communications materials. • Leveraging communication programs, message platforms, assets and channels to support business priorities. • Developing, managing and publishing pages and content for the company’s website. • Supporting efforts to ensure messages reach target audiences. • Measuring and analyzing the impact of campaign activities. • Guiding cross-functional owners of social media sub-accounts to ensure alignment with overall social media strategy. Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in communications, English, marketing, journalism or related discipline plus at least 4 years of relevant communications experience in an agency or corporate setting, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education • Strong written and oral communications skills, including copyediting and familiarity with AP style. • Ability to synthesize complex materials and to craft creative, persuasive language and compelling messaging for a variety of global audiences. • Self-starter who can assume responsibility for several tasks with little supervision and proactively alert colleagues about project deadlines, action items and potential challenges to meeting goals. • Experience building and maintaining strong internal relationships. • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy, completeness and thoroughness of all work. • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task and work effectively on a variety of projects concurrently in a demanding, deadline-driven environment. • Proven ability to ensure accuracy, completeness and thoroughness of all work products. • Project management and organizational skills. • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including PowerPoint, Word and Excel.
