Role: QA Architect – Mobile App Automation Location: Alameda CA About the Role: We are looking for a highly skilled Quality Architect to define and drive the overall test architecture, frameworks, and best practices for mobile application quality assurance. The ideal candidate is an expert in mobile test automation (Android & iOS) and has extensive hands-on experience with modern tools and frameworks. This role combines technical leadership, strategic planning, and mentorship, ensuring robust, scalable, and efficient test automation solutions across the organization. Key Responsibilities: · Define and own the test automation architecture for mobile apps (Android & iOS) to ensure scalability, maintainability, and performance. · Design and guide the implementation of automation frameworks using Appium, WebdriverIO, Mocha/Jest, and Chai. · Collaborate with development, DevOps, and QA teams to embed test automation within bolthires/CD pipelines (Jenkins). · Establish best practices, coding standards, and guidelines for automation scripts and test frameworks. · Provide technical leadership and mentorship to QA engineers, enabling them to build and maintain high-quality automated test suites. · Integrate automated tests with cloud-based device farms (e.g., BrowserStack) for cross-device and cross-platform coverage. · Optimize test execution for speed, reliability, and bolthires-effectiveness. · Define and track quality metrics and KPIs to monitor testing effectiveness and release readiness. · Collaborate with Product and Engineering leaders to ensure testability and reliability are considered early in the development lifecycle. · Conduct code reviews, architecture assessments, and technical evaluations for tools and frameworks. · Stay up to date with the latest technologies, trends, and best practices in test automation and mobile app testing. Required Skills & Experience: · 12+ years of experience in Quality Engineering/Assurance, with at least 4+ years in an architecture or senior technical leadership role. · Strong programming skills in TypeScript, Core Java, or Python. · Hands-on experience with: v Test Runners / Frameworks: Mocha, Jest v Assertion Library: Chai v Automation Engine: Appium v WebDriver Client: WebdriverIO · Expertise in building and maintaining mobile automation frameworks for Android and iOS. · Familiarity with Android Studio and XCUITest/Xcode for debugging and native app testing. · Experience integrating automated tests in Jenkins Pipelines for continuous testing. · Hands-on experience running automated tests on BrowserStack or similar cloud device testing platforms. · Strong knowledge of test design patterns, BDD/TDD approaches, and bolthires/CD best practices. · Solid understanding of software development and testing life cycles, Agile methodologies, and DevOps practices. · Exceptional debugging, problem-solving, and optimization skills. · Ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively across multiple teams. Preferred Qualifications: · Experience with API automation (e.g., RestAssured, Postman) and performance testing for mobile backends. · Familiarity with containerized environments (Docker, Kubernetes) for scalable test execution. · Exposure to security testing and analytics tools for mobile apps. · Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) for test infrastructure. · ISTQB Advanced Level or equivalent test architecture/leadership certification. Soft Skills: · Strong leadership and technical mentoring abilities. · Strategic thinker with a quality-first mindset. · Excellent communication, influencing, and cross-functional collaboration skills. · Capable of managing priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
