THE POSITION The Investment Implementation & Trading department is seeking to recruit a Quantitative Trading Analyst to work on our Trading Research & Analytics team in Boston. Wellington Management’s Trading Department employs over 60 traders globally and operates in specialized teams according to sectors, regions, and products. Our investment and trading activities are conducted on an industry- leading internally developed software platform, which we believe creates a meaningful competitive advantage, and is an asset to our trading data strategy. The Trading Research & Analytics team is an in-house team of managers and analysts, who oversee the “business” of the department and provide in-depth, action-oriented insights into our trading capabilities and activities. Some of the more focused projects include: Profiling our systematic order flows to determine the optimal electronic/algorithmic execution strategy that will minimize the total cost of execution. Profiling our investment driven order flows to unearth momentum signals that can be incorporated into the pre trade strategizing process for improving outcomes. Developing a research and reporting infrastructure designed to monitor the performance of systematic strategies and momentum signals to gauge future efficacy. Responsibilities • Partnering with investors, traders, broker/dealers, and various internal stakeholders to improve overall execution results through innovation, actionable trading research and enhanced decision-making tools. • Designing a Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA) framework for Investment Implementation & Trading that supports our client reporting, best execution, and execution insights. • Working with trading technology, external vendors, and the dealer community on producing a high-quality data environment surrounding the life cycle of a trade. • Understanding equity and/or fixed income market structure trends and how to evolve our electronic trading strategy. Requirements • Personal qualities and values that are consistent with, and would be additive to, Wellington Management's culture. • Self -motivated individual who exhibits ownership in their work with excellent independent decision-making skills and superior judgement. • Creative problem-solver who can work effectively under tight deadlines and other pressures. • Collaborative, team-player. • Experienced programmer in Python; working knowledge of SQL; familiarity with machine learning, data analysis, and data modeling. • Proven organizational and communication skills with an emphasis on accuracy, concision, and timeliness. • Working knowledge of quantitative tools and technologies used for Transaction Cost Analysis (TCA), order execution and risk management. • Experience in trading workflows and familiarity with financial markets; knowledge of electronic trading platforms and trading systems. • A minimum 1-3 years of relevant work experience in the financial services industry. • Strong academic credentials; a Bachelor's degree is required; a graduate degree and/or professional coursework/certifications (or progress toward) would be additive. Nice-to-haves • Experience with business intelligence and data visualization software, preferably Tableau would be viewed favorably.
