Job Summary As a Registered Nurse 4900 Medical - Surgical, you'll assume responsibility for providing nursing care and outcomes for a group of patients for a designated time frame. You'll work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team to deliver high-quality patient care, promote patient safety, and foster a culture of excellence. Key Responsibilities Provides patient care via the nursing process in collaboration with other members of the healthcare team Documents patient assessment, reassessment, progress toward goal achievement, and all other required documentation accurately and timely Promotes patient safety and quality, including adherence to the National Patient Safety Goals Communicates and collaborates effectively with members of the healthcare team, escalating situations appropriately Establishes effective caring relationships with staff, patients, families, and other members of the healthcare team Administers medication and parenteral therapy in accordance with policy and procedure, including blood administration Establishes priorities for patient care delivery and uses critical thinking skills to coordinate and complete patient care responsibilities independently or by appropriately delegating Provides patient/family education and assists in discharge planning, utilizing resources and considering patient/family readiness, barriers, and alternatives Demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide nursing care based on physical, psychosocial, educational, safety, and age-related criteria pertinent to the patients served in his/her assigned area Requirements and Qualifications Essential Qualifications: Graduate of an Accredited Nursing Program Registered Nurse License - New York State Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) New York State RN License 1 year recent Med/Surg clinical experience Skills and Competencies To succeed in this role, you'll need to possess a range of skills and competencies, including: Strong clinical skills and knowledge of medical-surgical nursing principles Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively Commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and promoting patient safety Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At NYU Langone Health, we're committed to supporting the growth and development of our nurses.
