As a REMOTE Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician, you'll play a critical role in ensuring that patients receive the medications they need while supporting healthcare providers with their prior authorization requests. Key Responsibilities Provide professional phone assistance to members, providers, and other stakeholders through the criteria-based prior authorization process, ensuring timely and accurate resolutions. Maintain complete, accurate, and up-to-date documentation of all approvals and denials, and escalate clinical inquiries to the pharmacist team as needed. Identify and elevate complex or sensitive issues to the pharmacist team, ensuring that patients receive the care they need. Perform other duties as assigned, such as managing faxes, sorting documents, maintaining email boxes, and performing CAS maintenance tasks. Essential Qualifications and Skills To succeed in this role, you'll need: A high school diploma or GED. A state or national pharmacy technician license. Prior experience in prior authorization, preferably in a pharmacy setting. Call center experience, with a strong background in customer service and phone support. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy. Proficiency in navigating electronic health records and other relevant software systems. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications can give you a competitive edge: Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Familiarity with healthcare operations, including pharmacy benefits management and prior authorization processes. Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations, such as HIPAA and pharmacy law. Bilingual or multilingual skills, with the ability to communicate effectively in multiple languages.
