[Remote] Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner – Addiction Medicine

Boulder Care is looking for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioners (PMHNPs) who are aligned with harm reduction principles and have experience prescribing buprenorphine-based medications for opioid use disorder in an outpatient setting. The role involves providing medication-assisted treatment for Substance Use Disorders (SUD) and empowering patients in their recovery journeys as part of a multidisciplinary care team. Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, treat, and manage ongoing care for individuals with complex substance use disorders (SUDs) and related comorbidities Understand, embrace, and incorporate harm reduction practices into all patient care Help elicit patients’ own goals for their recovery and help them in achieving these goals over time through therapeutic alliance and shared decision-making Educate patients on Boulder’s model of care, SUDs, related comorbidities, recovery strategies, and safer use where appropriate Coordinate with teammates and Clinical Leadership to develop and oversee treatment plans, adjusting them as needed Provide patient care during scheduled part-time shifts, which may include some nonstandard hours depending on coverage needs and candidate availability Use technology effectively to facilitate a safe and rewarding patient experience Interpret and share clinical results with patients without judgment in order to help them meet their goals and stay safe Enable care coordination, connecting patients to clinical resources within and outside of Boulder through referrals where necessary, working with Peer Recovery Specialists, Case Managers, Care Advocates, and Care Navigators to help patients access social resources and navigate the healthcare system Deliver proactive, clear, and constructive feedback and collaborate with Boulder’s Technology and Operations teams to troubleshoot as we continuously build out our digital treatment platforms By the end of shift, all visit documentation must be completed, including all relevant information to enable consistent, high-quality team-based care Review relevant Slack channels for updates and team communication Understand and follow Boulder’s policies and procedures Skills Reside in one of the following states: AK, AZ, CO, FL, ID, KS, NC, MD, NM, NV, NY, OH, OR, WA, WY Have an active NP license + PMHNP certification in your state of residency Have at least 1 year of experience regularly prescribing buprenorphine-based medications in an independent, outpatient setting as a core part of your daily practice (not something done occasionally or only during training) Are interested in part-time work: 4–25 hours/week, minimum shift length of 4 hours Minimum 1 year of addiction treatment experience as an NP including adult populations Ability to gain approval for multiple state licenses and insurance company contracts (no significant legal or credentialing barriers/sanctions) Demonstrated expertise managing SUDs within a chronic care model, utilizing medication assisted recovery paired with social needs management in a Clinician capacity Proficiency in electronic medical records and video conferencing; experience with Google Suite or similar platform highly preferred Demonstrated ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team; exceptional communication, interpersonal skills, and collaborative problem solving Ability to quickly learn and adapt to new technologies, workflows, and evolving clinical practices within our growing organization Ability to efficiently manage time and caseload within a part-time schedule Comfortable and effective working in a fast-paced, team-based care model, maintaining focus and quality even with limited weekly hours Dedicated, private workspace with a lockable door and high-speed internet to ensure HIPAA compliance Cannot have previously been a patient at Boulder Care 3 or more years of clinical experience as an NP or RN Degree from an accredited school of nursing and a graduate-level Clinician program Proficiency in electronic medical records and video conferencing; experience with Google Suite or similar platform highly preferred Benefits Sick leave accrued at 1 hour for every 30 hours paid Licensing, credentialing, malpractice, and waiver renewal coverage Hardware provided Company Overview Boulder is a telehealth provider of treatment and long-term support for people with substance use disorders It was founded in 2017, and is headquartered in Portland, Oregon, USA, with a workforce of 51-200 employees.
