[Remote] Statistical Analyst with Expert Witness Experience

They are seeking a PhD-level Statistical Analyst with Expert Witness Credentials to lead statistical analyses on racial disparities in criminal justice outcomes and provide expert testimony in legal proceedings. Responsibilities • Design statistical framework for analyzing racial disparities in criminal justice outcomes • Develop methodologies compliant with statutory equity requirements • Establish baseline measurements and comparison frameworks • Create analytical protocols for ongoing monitoring • Document methodology in clear, legally defensible terms • Conduct comprehensive statistical analysis of historical case data • Perform regression analyses controlling for legally relevant factors • Test for statistically significant disparities across racial/ethnic groups • Prepare initial findings report with visualizations and technical documentation • Present findings to agency stakeholders • Prepare expert reports and declarations for legal motions • Respond to challenges to your methodology and findings • Provide expert consultation on case-specific analytical questions • Prepare for and provide expert testimony in court proceedings (as needed) • Withstand cross-examination and defend analytical approach • Conduct quarterly disparities analyses with updated data • Track trends over time and flag significant changes • Prepare regular technical reports for agency leadership • Support continuous improvement of analytical methods Skills • PhD in Statistics, Biostatistics, Quantitative Criminology, Sociology, Econometrics, or closely related field • Expert witness experience - Prior testimony in criminal or civil proceedings (deposition and/or trial) • Disparities analysis expertise - Deep knowledge of methods for detecting and measuring discrimination • Causal inference - Understanding of selection bias, confounding, and causal identification strategies • Legal communication skills - Ability to explain complex statistics clearly to judges and attorneys • Composure under pressure - Capacity to defend your work under adversarial questioning • Multivariate regression (OLS, logistic, multinomial) • Propensity score matching or other causal methods • Hierarchical/multilevel modeling • Hypothesis testing and power analysis • Missing data methods • Sensitivity analysis • Criminal justice or legal system data analysis • Racial equity, discrimination, or civil rights research • California criminal justice system familiarity • Prosecutorial decision-making research • Published research in peer-reviewed journals on related topics Benefits • Paid Testimony prep • Paid Courtroom testimony Company Overview • JNP Industries helps state agencies and mission-driven nonprofits fix the people problems hidden in their data.
