[Remote] Tax Associate

The Tax Associate will manage the R&D tax credit study process, ensuring a positive client experience through data collection, analysis, and report preparation. Responsibilities Assist in gathering, organizing, and reviewing client tax documents Analyze client financial data (general ledger, payroll reports, project cost detail) to identify qualified research expenses (QREs)) Support wage, supply, and contract research calculations under the supervision of senior team members Prepare clear, audit-ready workpapers supporting credit calculations Assist with preparing credit forms (e.g., Form 6765 and state equivalents) Coordinate with internal technical writers, tax associates, and project managers Participate in client kick-offs, calls, and/or meetings as a supporting team member Communicate project status, data needs, and deadlines to project teams Meet engagement deadlines while managing multiple projects Professional handling of confidential client information Skills Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field 1-2 years in a financial, tax, or law setting Understanding of R&D tax incentives, credits, and related services; required Excel: proficient level with knowledge on how to create, VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and pivot tables Self-motivated, results-driven, and able to work independently in a remote environment Strong attention to detail and accuracy CPA preferred; but not required Company Overview Acena Consulting is your expert research and development tax credit partner.
