RESEARCH DATA SPECIALIST I

The California Department of State Hospitals is seeking a Research Data Specialist I to work on specialized and complex projects related to various treatment programs. The role involves data collection, statistical analysis, and collaboration with county partners to support program management and decision-making. Responsibilities Work independently on specialized and complex projects in areas such as Jail-Based Competency Treatment Programs, the Admission, Evaluation, & Stabilization Center, Community-Based Restoration Program, Early Access & Stabilization Services, and Community Inpatient Program data Serve as lead on team initiatives for program evaluation, process improvements, new research inquiries, and system innovation Develop and refine methodologies for initial data collection, data cleaning, and ongoing reconciliation for reports issued on a weekly, monthly, semi-annual, and annual basis Conduct research involving patient data and preparing formal reports and presentations to management Prepare program efficacy analyses and feasibility studies to assist program management efforts and inform contracting decisions Conduct extensive statistical analyses utilizing descriptive and inferential statistical methods Provide credible, evidence-based arguments and recommendations to support various Department proposals Formulate data-driven responses to internal and external entities Collaborate and coordinate with county partners, Sacramento-based staff, contractors and external stakeholders Skills 12 semester or 18 quarter units course work in any combination of a data driven research-related field, such as economics, mathematics, psychology, sociology, demography, geography, anthropology, statistics, data science or a research-related field At least one course in statistical methods Equivalent to graduation from an accredited college with a bachelor's degree Work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis by applicants who have the required units mentioned above Benefits Employee fitness center with a yoga studio, cardio equipment and weights Lactation rooms Company Overview California Department of State Hospitals manages the California state hospital system.
