RN / NURSE NAVIGATOR - ALVORD BRAIN TUMOR CENTER (PART TIME)
About the position The University of Washington is seeking a part-time Oncology Nurse Navigator for the Alvord Brain Tumor Center. This role focuses on empowering neuro-oncology patients to navigate their cancer treatment with confidence, providing compassionate guidance and advocacy throughout the care continuum. The position offers a flexible schedule and the opportunity to work from home after training. Responsibilities • Provide patient-centric care for a breadth of neuro-oncologic diagnoses, including brain and central nervous system (CNS) tumors • Assist patients, families, and caregivers to overcome healthcare system barriers • Provide care coordination throughout the cancer continuum, ensuring timely access • Provide education and resources to patients, families, and caregivers about diagnoses, treatment options, side effect management, post-treatment care, and survivorship • Assess and promote healthy lifestyle choices and self-care strategies through education and referrals to ancillary services • Develop and use appropriate assessment tools (e.g. distress screening, pain scale, performance status) • Support a smooth transition of patients from active treatment into survivorship or end-of-life care • Demonstrate knowledge of the Fred Hutch and UW Medicine Clinical Pathways • Facilitate communication among members of the multidisciplinary cancer care team to prevent fragmented or delayed care that could adversely affect patient outcomes; this includes participating in multidisciplinary case reviews and tumor boards Requirements • 3 years of recent care management nursing experience, oncology nursing experience, or equivalent experience • Active licensure to practice as a Registered Nurse in Washington State Benefits • $10,000 Sign-On Bonus for eligible part-time new employees • Generous benefits and work/life programs Apply tot his job
