About the Role The Senior Compliance Accountant plays a vital role in ensuring that Piedmont Airlines adheres to all relevant financial regulations and internal policies. This position involves monitoring and assessing the effectiveness of compliance controls, preparing detailed reports, and advising management on compliance-related matters. You will work closely with external auditors, regulatory bodies, and cross-functional teams to ensure the organization's financial practices are in strict compliance with all applicable laws and standards. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement compliance monitoring programs to ensure adherence to financial regulations Conduct regular audits of financial records to verify compliance with internal controls and external regulations Prepare detailed compliance reports for senior management, highlighting any areas of concern or non-compliance Assist in the development and revision of financial policies and procedures to ensure they meet regulatory requirements Implement and enforce compliance policies across the organization Provide training and guidance to staff on compliance-related issues and policy updates Oversee the preparation and submission of regulatory filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness Maintain thorough documentation of compliance activities and findings Liaise with regulatory bodies and respond to inquiries or audits Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate these risks Work with the Risk Management team to assess the impact of regulatory changes on the company's operations Monitor changes in regulations and update the compliance program accordingly Collaborate with external auditors to ensure the completion of compliance audits Provide support to other departments in understanding and adhering to compliance requirements Act as a point of contact for compliance-related inquiries within the organization Stay updated on industry trends and best practices related to financial compliance Recommend and implement improvements to the compliance function to enhance efficiency and effectiveness Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving overall compliance and financial processes Essential Qualifications and Competencies To be successful in this role, you should possess: A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field Five (5) years of experience in accounting or auditing , with three (3) of those years focused on compliance Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), Sarbanes-Oxley Act (SOX) compliance, and relevant regulatory frameworks Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently Effective communication and interpersonal skills Proficient in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines Preferred Qualifications To further enhance your application, you may possess: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) certification Career Growth Opportunities and Learning Benefits At Piedmont Airlines, we are committed to the growth and development of our employees.
